New Prep Basketball Event Tips Off Thanksgiving Weekend

A new event in Little Rock is offering fans a heaping helping of boys high school basketball Thanksgiving weekend.
The Arkansas Alumni High School Classic tips off Friday Nov. 29 with a doubleheader at Philander Smith College. Maumelle and Memphis Health and Science, which is coached by former University of Arkansas star Todd Day, and Maumelle hook up at 5:30 p.m. Blytheville takes on ESTEM in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.
A triple header Saturday begins with Blytheville and MH&S at 3 p.m. North Pulaski takes on Pulaski County School District rival Maumelle at 5 p.m. and ESTEM and Mills finish the slate at 7:30 p.m.
This year’s Classic theme is “shooting 4 schola1147729_702289009801066_1779079099_orships” and during halftime of each of the five games played a $500 scholarship will be given away to a lucky senior.

Also on Friday The Arkansas Alumni Classic 2013 Tip-Off Party begins at 9 p.m. at Cornerstone Pub & Grill in downtown North Little Rock. The event also marks the launch of former Arkansas football player C.J. McClain’s web site www.hoglife.tv. There will be  live music by DJ Derrick, a special performance by R&B singer Brandon Richardson, a live art demonstration by Sasha Rayerskiy and a silent auction.
